Porsche has expanded its proven model range with another eight-cylinder sports car. With the new Porsche 928 S 4.7-liter (221 kW, 300 hp), the Porsche range now consists of these six models.
924, 924 Turbo, 911 SC, 911 Turbo, 928 and 928 S.
As part of the model update, Porsche has also revised and supplemented many details of the already known models.
All Porsche sports cars come with a six-year long-term warranty on their virtually rust-proof bodywork.
The fastest automatic car in the world
At the Geneva Motor Show (March 6-16), the traditional spring meeting point of the automotive world, Porsche is presenting the 928 S with automatic transmission for the first time.
This high-performance car with Gran Turismo comfort features a 4.7-liter lightweight eight-cylinder engine that develops 300 horsepower (220 kW). The maximum torque is 385 Nm (39.3 mkp).
With an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just seven seconds and a top speed of over 245 km/h, the new 928 S Automatic is the fastest automatic car in the world.
Registrations of brand-new Porsche sports cars in Switzerland increased by 223 units, or 20 percent, to 1,316 in 1979 compared to the previous year.
The Swiss Porsche importer AMAG, Schinznach, attributes this partly to the introduction of the 924 Turbo. Furthermore, given today's energy awareness, the low fuel consumption of the sports cars from Zuffenhausen contributes to their growing success.
