Porsche Classic Club ČR Hosts First Tourist-Orienteering Rally
75 km of ride in Bohemia for Air-Cooled Porsche Enthusiasts

On July 5, 2025, the Porsche Classic Club ČR organized an exclusive tourist-orienteering rally for air-cooled Porsche cars manufactured until 1993. The event, which started at the Pelechov Automuseum in Luštěnice, was designed not as a speed race, but as a leisurely journey through the picturesque Bohemian Paradise.
Participants had the opportunity to drive classic Porsche models such as the 356, 911, 912, 914, and 964 along a carefully planned 75 km route. The rally was structured to include several interesting stops at motoring museums, adding an educational and nostalgic element to the scenic drive.
The event kicked off with a gathering at the Pelechov Automuseum, located in Luštěnice. Attendees were treated to a tour of the museum, which boasts an impressive collection of American cars and the largest assortment of car models in the region.
The rally officially began at 11:00 a.m., with vehicles departing one by one at one-minute intervals.
Unlike traditional races, this rally emphasized enjoyment and exploration. Drivers were given a simple itinerary and faced several tricky questions along the route, with correct answers guiding their direction of travel. Self-checks were strategically placed to ensure participants stayed on course and did not get lost. The final destination remained a secret, promising a surprise for all who completed the journey.
Participants were encouraged to take their time, stop for lunch at local restaurants, and explore additional motoring museums along the way. The only requirement was to reach the final destination by 5:00 p.m., where they would be entered into a draw for a special "Porsche" gift.
The Pelechov Car Museum, which opened its doors at 9:00 a.m., provided a charming starting point with its vintage cars, extensive model collection, and a cozy coffee stand. The organizers aimed to create a stress-free and enjoyable experience, ensuring that everyone could navigate the route without any pressure or disputes.
We started with n.5, who was randomly assigned at the briefing. After 30 km comes the first stop, at the Jawa Museum in Rabakov, whith its collection of more than 180 motorcycles.
We continue driving towards the north; after 17 km we are greeted by the towers of the majestic, private-owned, Kost Kastle.
We're entering the kingdom of fairy tales.
The village of Vesec is characterized by timbered residential and farm buildings, mostly with a storey layout. Most of the buildings date from the 18th and 19th centuries.
Since 1995, Vesec has been a village monument reserve thanks to an urban complex consisting of 18 mainly timbered cottages.
The village is often used by filmmakers, who have used it in more than 30 films and series.
The legendary figure of Jára Cimrman, fictional Czech polymath, created by Ladislav Smoljak, Jiří Šebánek and Zdeněk Svěrák, allegedly spent the last years of his life there.
We leave the czech folklore behind and we continue towards the small but interesting castle of Hrubá Skála. The eponimous municipality consists of eight settlements, most of which fall within the Bohemian Paradise Protected Landscape Area (Český ráj), near Turnov. The castle was built on a sandstone rock massif in the second half of the 14th century.
But, before getting there we feel obliged to stop at the Pekařova brána, about 5 km north of the town of Sobotka. It is the shortest road tunnel in the Czech Republic. The tunnel is in the form of a rock gate was created during the construction of the road, when its builders came across a sandstone rock called Mnich and decided to preserve it. They carved a Gothic arch into it and at the same time made its top accessible by stairs. The tunnel was put into operation in 1914.

The name Pekařova brána comes from the time when the original tourist trail from Kost Castle to Wallenstein Castle, named after the Czech historian Josef Pekař, led through it.
We continue for roughly 10 km before getting to the Motomuzeum in Borek pod Troskami. The museum houses a unique collection of more than 150 historical Czech and foreign motorcycles, which were produced and used in large numbers on Czech and world roads from the 1930s to the 1970s.
Here you will find a complete collection of mass-produced motorcycles of famous brands such as Jawa, ČZ, Praga, as well as representatives of lesser-known brands such as Ogar, Manet, Achilles, Šístko or Čechie – Böhmerland. There is also a collection of scooters and bicycles on display.
Not even the time of stretching our legs and here we are again ... a few km and we get to the wooden bell tower in Rovensko pod Troskami, whose bells are turned with their hearts facing upwards and are set in motion by pedaling: it is probably the only one of its kind in the world!
The three bells, named after the Czech saints John the Baptist, Wenceslas and George, were originally hung in the traditional way, but because they rang in rebellion, the authorities had them turned upside down as punishment.
The bell tower dates from the 17th century. The previous bell tower burned down during the religious storms of the Thirty Years' War, in 1629. The following year, 1630, the burned-down bell tower was rebuilt and two new bells were purchased, which were cast by the master bell-maker Martin Schrötter from Hostinné nad Labem. The third, smallest bell was made in 1639. The bells were not requisitioned during either the First or Second World Wars.
We're almost at the end of our trip, the waypoint n.56 is at Lomnice nad Popelkou, a town on the border of the Bohemian Paradise and the Podkrkonoší Mountains.
Here we would gather once again to visit the collection of a a couple of dozens Raleigh motorcycles, which are located in the former Mastné weaving mill, completely restored by the artist blacksmith Pavel Doležal. Here we have the perfect fusion of art, industrial heritage, architecture, mecenatism, motorist culture ...
Overall, the rally offered a unique blend of leisurely driving, historical exploration, and community spirit, making it a memorable event for all air-cooled Porsche enthusiasts and a good training for more demanding competitions.
