The first major engineering change on the Porsche Turbo since its introduction in Paris in 1974 is the increase in displacement from 3.0 to 3.3 liters. More power, a flatter torque curve and smoother changes are the result of this modification. In spite of this increase in power the Turbo is still a genuine Porsche and can be proud of its example-giving everyday useability. A new braking system and a modified rear spoiler with an integral charge air cooler underline the fact, that Porsche engineers are always making use of their experience made in racing competition for the sake of standard production.
The 3.3 liter engine of the new Turbo is definite proof of the value of an increase in power by way of supercharging with assistance from exhaust gas flow even for the cars operating on public roads setting up new standards and showing interesting possibilities. In particular it is outstanding just how quiet and cultivated such a "bundle of energy" can be under all driving conditions.
With this model automobile engineers have been successful for the first time and in a fascinating manner in combining the power and performance of a racing sports car with the comfort of a luxurious limousine.
