For Porsche engineering, the Turbo represents the pinnacle of a proven concept. For the first time in automotive engineering, the synthesis of the performance and handling of a racing car, the comfort of a luxury sedan, and the everyday practicality of a shopping car has been achieved in a fascinating way. Here, Porsche engineers were able to incorporate their extensive experience from motorsport and sports car manufacturing into a production vehicle. The turbo engine clearly demonstrates that increasing performance through turbocharging using exhaust gas flow sets new standards and opens up exciting new avenues for road cars as well. It is particularly astonishing how quiet such a "powerhouse" is under all operating conditions.
