With the 928 model range PORSCHE is strengthening their leading position on the sports car market on a worldwide basis. As all other Porsche sports cars, it fulfills all requirements from everyday driving in regards to functionality and practical value.

The 4.5 liter V 8 engine made of light alloys develops 240 HP. It is installed at front of car and connected to the rear-mounted transmission/drive unit by a transaxle tube. This system, also applied in the Porsche 924, provides a uniform distribution of weight (50 % each front and rear) and excellent traction for the driven rear wheels. The smooth running high torque engine guarantees superior performance. The 928 will accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 7 seconds and its top speed is above 230 km/h. The completely new running gear offers optimum driving safety and comfort. The toe-controlled rear axle (WEISSACH Axle) guarantees optimum directional stability in curves.

The 928 is equipped with a sensible power steering system, which does not have to be accustomed to and which has matched its supporting effect on the road speed.

The spacious 2/2-seater coupe body has been designed for maximum travelling and operating comfort. Styling was determined by functional and safety factors. The standard equipment includes numerous novel details among them an active warning system and a cleaning solution metering pump for the windshield washer.

The individual adjustment of the controls permits a "custom-built sitting position". Many customer wishes in design and additional equipment can be fulfilled. Energy absorbing, regenerable bumpers made of polyurethane and exceptionally strong roof members are just some of the results from safety research at PORSCHE.
