Loosely translated from the original German.
Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is launching the most successful sports car of all time in a new generation: the new 911 Carrera with a 239 kW (325 hp) strong 3.6-liter boxer engine and the 911 Carrera S for the first time with a displacement of 3.8 liters and an output of 261 kW (355 hp). Both models accelerate from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour in less than five seconds and reach a top speed of over 280 km/h (Carrera S: over 290 km/h). The Carrera is offered at prices starting at EUR69,600 and the Carrera S at EUR78,000 (excluding VAT).
The new models are characterized by numerous technical innovations that further enhance driving dynamics and active safety: For example, both versions have newly developed suspension systems that provide even better damping comfort while maintaining high agility.
For the first time in series production cars from Porsche, PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) is available as standard on the Carrera S and as an option on the Carrera.
With PASM activated by pressing a button on the center console, drivers can choose between two different suspension settings - Normal or Sport - depending on their personal preferences or road conditions.
In addition to improved handling characteristics thanks to wider track widths front and rear as well as larger wheels with mixed tires (18-inch standard), both models also feature optimized aerodynamics including a redesigned rear spoiler lip for reduced lift forces at high speeds.
The size of the wheels and tires has increased: The 911 Carrera model now comes standard with 18-inch wheels in the size 8J x 18 with 235/40 ZR 18 tires (front) and 10J x 18 with 265/40 ZR 18 tires (rear). The Carrera S type comes with 19" wheels in the dimensions of 9J x 19 with 235/35 ZR19 at the front and 11J x 19 with 295/30 ZR 19 at the rear respectively.
The design of the new Porsche 911 is a consistent continuation of the over forty-year-old 911 story. Through the new exterior design - including a wider track and a stronger emphasis on the waist - the appearance of the 911 becomes even more dynamic, clearer, and more powerful. The front section has also been redesigned. The new bi-xenon headlights are now standard, and the new round headlights with separate additional headlights in the front section, more pronounced fenders, a new dual exhaust system, and a flush-integrated and extendable optimized rear spoiler.
The base price for the 911 Carrera is now EUR 69,600, or EUR 73,300 for the Carrera S. In Germany, the prices (including VAT and country-specific requirements) are EUR 75,200 for the Carrera and EUR 85,176 for the Carrera S.
